I'm a loser, bay-bee...so why don't ya kill mee...
Okay, so no sour grapes about losing out at the Edgars. I was damn sure Christa Faust would take the award home for MONEY SHOT but instead Meg Gardiner walks off with it for CHINA LAKE. My thanks to everyone who was willing to toss a molotov cocktail and cry foul, overturn tables, set fires, smash bottles of tequila and wave around the busted glass ends at the throats of the MWA judges. Never trust whitey!

Hey, you're still a winner to all of us readers! And it's an honor just to be nominated! (I can almost say that with a straight face after years of practice.)
I guess the ju-ju I was sending out didn't work on the jury. Ah, well, as Bill said, you are a winner to readers. I loved "Cold Spot".
aww, nutbunnies. I was sure you'd get it. :P A pox on those judges. Or something like that.
Wait a minute. Are you saying that China Lake, which was originally published several years ago, beat out both The Cold Spot and Money Shot? I've read all three novels and reviewed two of them. China Lake is so slow that I barely got through it. I did like Gardner's second novel in the series a lot better, but nothing she's written can compare to The Cold Spot. The Money Shot is good, but still not in the same league as Tom's novel. I'm not just blowing smoke up his ass, either. I managed two bookstores over a ten-year period and I have been writing book reviews for over twenty-five years. Realizing that everyone has different taste, I'm being honest when I say that The Cold Spot is at the top of its genre in class and storytelling and not one of the other books can compare to it. The Edgars were rigged!!!!
